The workshop Contemporary Tradition [furniture design & digital media], idealized by the Hillsideout duo Nat Wilms and Andrea Zambelli, is divided in two converging areas: wood construction and digital narration. Communication and cooperation within these areas are a must in order to achieve a good result. We focus in several matters: research on historical objects and stories, antique construction techniques, tools, computer-based editing programs, shooting techniques, stability and design, for instance.

The workshop in San Luis Potosí was in particular about a research of historical objects and site inspections of places in the city where a history or stories could be found. The participants decided together which stories were worth to elaborate and how to deepen through which use of material and mediums. The concept is to combine manual construction and technological use in a functional every day life furnishing that contains emotional and narrative inner life.
